"Students, Scholarship, and Success in the School of Communication."
The UND School of Communication has much to share. We hope you have the opportunity to attend some of our events that are open to our community and to join in the excitement that is the School of Communication.
The School of Communication provides comprehensive undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs. Graduates from our undergraduate and graduate programs have jobs here in North Dakota as well as nationally. We teach students the professional skills to make critically informed professional and life choices, use technology and communicate ethically and effectively with diverse communities.
We are a regional, national, and global leader in communication education, research and outreach. We host a Native Media Center in our school that provides resources for Native American students interested in pursuing careers in communication. Each fall and spring semester the Native Media Center sponsors a hands-on communication workshop, the Native Community Studio, for Native American high school and tribal college students. The Native Media Center is located in the School of Communication in 231 O’Kelly Hall.
We also sponsor the Northern Interscholastic Press Association, a scholastic journalism association for high school students throughout North Dakota. Each Fall semester we hold a workshops on writing for student newspapers, photography, and creating student yearbooks. Each Spring semester we hold a conference in which high school journalists compete for prizes in live action journalism events as well as mail in competitions.
