Scholarships for Freshman, Returning Freshman, and New Transfer Students in SEM
William F. and Inez L. McDonald Endowment Scholarship
A new $1 million endowment is providing scholarships to undergraduate students in engineering at the University of North Dakota. The William F. and Inez L. McDonald Endowment provides financial resources for students in chemical, civil, electrical, geological and mechanical engineering, geology, and environmental geoscience. To be eligible for a McDonald Scholarship, students must be in good academic standing in an SEM major, be a new freshman, a new transfer student, or a freshman returning for a second year in a SEM major. Priority consideration will be given to students with financial need, as determined by the FAFSA and the UND financial aid. Applicants not meeting the financial need criteria or those who have not submitted a FAFSA form will be placed in a pool for consideration once all applicants with need have been identified.
The value of the scholarships may vary between $250 and $1,250 per semester, and will be available to undergraduate students who have declared engineering, geology, or environmental geoscience as their degree program and are following an approved curriculum. Initial awards will be made in April. Click here for the .pdf file.
Buckingham Family Endowment Freshman and New Transfer Electrical Engineering Scholarship
The Buckingham Family Endowment was established by Robert P. Buckingham in honor of his brothers and relatives who have graduated from UND, as well as his father and grandfather, E.J. and George W. Buckingham. For the 2006-2007 academic year, the Buckingham Family Endowment is providing eight $1,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen and new transfer students who have a declared major of electrical engineering or those undecided engineering majors who are seriously considering electrical engineering and will be enrolled in the electrical engineering first-year curriculum. It is anticipated that there will once again be eight $1,000 scholarships made available for the 2007-2008 academic year, primarily to incoming first-year students. Initial awards will be made by April 15, 2007, with early applications given preference.
