Will the University send me a bill?
Registered students with an outstanding balance will receive a notification electronically to their University assigned U-Mail account. Students will be advised to review their account balance and transactions on Campus Connection.

'

Can I get a paper bill?
Students can print their account balance and history at any time through Campus Connection. Paper statements will not be sent from Student Account Services.

'

Who should I contact if I have a mistake on my account?
If there are charges on your account which you believe you have been billed in error, notify us in writing at:

University of North Dakota
Student Account Services
264 Centennial Drive, Stop 8373
Grand Forks, ND 58202 -8373

You must notify us no later than 60 days after we send you the first balance due notification e-mail or billing statement (non-students) regarding the disputed charge(s). You may telephone us, but doing so will not preserve your right to appeal.

In your letter, provide us with the following information:

  • Your name and Student ID number
  • Identify the disputed charge, including the amount, and why you believe there is an error

You are not required to pay the amount in dispute while we are investigating, but you are obligated to pay the balance of your account that is not in dispute. While we investigate your dispute a hold may be placed on your account, but we cannot report you as delinquent or take any action to collect the disputed amount.

'

I did not receive an email notification when I have a balance outstanding. What should I do?
First of all, verify that your account has a balance owing. If your account has a balance and you still did not receive a balance notification, verify that your U-Mail account has been activated. All registered students will receive balance notifications electronically through the University assigned U-Mail account. UND Policy states that "a University assigned student email account shall be the University's official means of communication with all students on the UND campus. Students can expect to receive official information regarding deadlines, policy/procedure changes, changes in degree requirements, special events, course schedule changes, regulatory changes, emergency notices, as well as other useful information from the Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, the Provost's office, Dean of Students, the Graduate School and information from academic departments. Students are responsible for all information sent to them via their University assigned email account."

If your U-Mail account has been activated, please verify that your email inbox is not "over quota" or full. Full inboxes will reject incoming email.

If you continue to have problems receiving your emails, please contact the HelpDesk at 701-777-2222.

'

Do I have to pay the entire balance in one payment?
Students must pay their entire balance by the due date. If your account balance is delinquent, you will be ineligible to register for future semesters or receive official academic transcripts. If your tuition and fee payment is not received by the posted deadline, you may be assessed a $200 late payment penalty and your semester registration may be canceled. If you have financial aid that has not yet been applied to your account, please see an advisor in the Financial Aid Office regarding a deferment before the due date (see question regarding tuition deferment).

'

How do I know if I have a Student Account Services hold on my account? How do I clear it up?
A Student Account Services hold, referred to as a "negative service indicator" in PeopleSoft, will appear as a hold on your "Holds & To Do List," or as an icon to the right of your Student ID on Campus Connection. If you pay the outstanding balance on your account, Student Account Services hold will be removed automatically during overnight processing. If you have any questions regarding a Student Account Services hold, you should contact Student Account Services at 701-777-3911 or studentaccounts@mail.und.edu

'

I am being billed as a North Dakota nonresident, but I think I should be a North Dakota resident. What should I do?
Students are responsible for their residency status and should verify their status each semester. Residency for tuition purposes is governed by North Dakota State Board of Higher Education Policy 504 and North Dakota Century Code Section 15-10-19.1. More information on residency can be found under Residency Information on Student Account Services website at:

http://www.und.edu/dept/studentaccounts/html/residency.htm

If you qualify for North Dakota resident tuition, you should submit a residency application to Student Account Services by the deadline. Residency applications must be received in Student Account Services by the deadline posted on Student Account Services website. Applications received and approved after the deadline will be effective the following semester.

'

I have a graduate assistantship tuition waiver. How is this credited to my account?
Graduate assistantships are processed through the Graduate School. If your assistantship tuition waiver is not appearing on your account, you should contact the Graduate School at 701-777-2948 or email gradschool@und.edu

'

My company/government/other agency will pay all or part of my bill. What should I do?
If the agency gives you a letter authorizing the University to bill your tuition and fees directly to them, you should submit the paperwork to Student Account Services by the posted deadline. If the agency needs to see the grade you earned for the course before paying tuition, you must pay the original bill and have the agency reimburse you after grades are posted. If you have additional questions about 3rd Party Billings, you should contact Student Account Services at 701-777-3911 or studentaccounts@mail.und.edu

'

My family member or another outside party handles my bills. How will they get the necessary information?
It is the student's responsibility to forward all account information to the family member or agency. The student is responsible for ensuring that all payments are received by the deadline. If you want the University to release financial information, you must have a signed FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974) form on file specifically to whom the information may be released. More information can be obtained at: http://www.und.nodak.edu/dept/registrar/FERPA/index.htm

'

Do I have to pay the student fees?
All registered students are billed tuition, mandatory fees, applicable course fees, and applicable professional program fees. Unless you are receiving a specific waiver, you are expected to pay all tuition and fees by the due date. If you have questions concerning your tuition and fee charges, you should contact Student Account Services at 701-777-3911 or studentaccounts@mail.und.edu

'

Where do I get a tuition deferment?
You may request a deferment if your current semester's anticipated aid is less than tuition/fees that you will owe for that semester. You should complete the Deferment Request Form and submit it to the Student Financial Aid Office. Deferment Request Forms are located at the Student Financial Aid reception desk. You may not receive a tuition deferment if your account balance is already delinquent.

'

Where do I pay my housing first installment?
The Housing Office requires students to pay a first installment to reserve a resident hall assignment. Payments are made at Student Account Services or online via CampusConnection as a deposit to their Housing account. For more information concerning your Room and Board contracts, contact the Housing Office at: housing@mail.und.edu

'

How do I set up an aviation flight account?
Aviation students are required to prepay their flight charges. The students deposit money on their account and it is reserved for aviation charges only. Students make their aviation prepayments at Student Account Services Teller Windows or online via CampusConnection as a deposit to their Aviation account. If you have more questions concerning the aviation program, contact Aerospace Sciences at 701-777-2791 or http://www.aero.und.edu/f1_Home/index.php

'

Where do I get a duplicate account statement or receipt?
Students can review and print copies of their account transactions on Campus Connection.

'

How do I change my address?
Students can change their addresses through Campus Connection in the section entitled Maintain Personal Data. Student Account Services utilizes the "Home" address for refunds and student correspondence. Please review your "Home" address for accuracy.

'

What is a U Card? Where do I make a deposit into my U Card account?
The U Card is your official University of North Dakota identification card. It allows you to access services at variety of locations throughout campus. The U Card can also be used as a pre-paid debit card. You deposit money into your account in advance and the balance decreases as you use it. You can make deposits into your U Card account at the U Card Office in the Memorial Union.

'

How can I tell if my excess aid/refund has been processed?
Go to your Campus Connection account to see when your excess aid/refund is processed:

Student Self-Service>Learner Services>Finances>Student Account Detail>
