Scholarships and assistantships are available to beginning and continuing students. Graduate Teaching and Graduate Research Assistantships provide quarter or half-time appointments for full-time students. Each may carry a tuition waiver. A quarter-time assistantship requires approximately eight hours of work per week, while a half-time assistantship requires approximately 16 hours of work per week. The respective salary ranges are $3,500 to $3,700 and $7,000 to $7,400 per academic year.
Tuition scholarships are available through the North Dakota Board of Higher Education. In addition, a reciprocity agreement enables Minnesota students to attend UND without having to pay nonresident tuition costs. Special scholarships, grants, fellowships, and awards are also available within the Department of Teaching and Learning and through the Graduate School.
