Q. When is the application deadline?
A. At this time there is no application deadline. Applications are reviewed by a committee within 30 days of receiving the completed application from the graduate school. Do keep in mind that it takes some time for your transcripts and letters of recommendation to be received and processed by the Graduate School.
Q. How many transcripts do I need?
A. You need a transcript from any college or university you attended.
Q. How many letters of recommendations do I need?
A. Three and it is recommended that the letters be from specific individuals as stated ikn the application information.
Q. Is this program for working with preschool or school-aged children?
A. This masters program is for students working with children from birth to grade 3.
Q. Will this degree allow lead to licensure?

Q. Can I teach in a public school with this degree?

Q. How long will the degree take to complete?
A. The program is designed for 2 years for completion or approximately 2 courses per semester. However, you can design your program of study to meet your needs. You can take only one class per semester.

Q. Is there a practicum connected with this degree?
A. Yes, the practicum can be completed in your own classroom (pre-school, Kindergarten or grades 1-3) if it meets UND’s accreditation requirements. You are responsible for finding your practicum site and the individual who will supervise you during this time. This may be an administrator, education coordinator or another individual located at your practicum site. This individual does not need to be in your classroom on a regular basis if you have previously taught in a early childhood classroom. If you are not currently teaching in a classroom, we may be able to assist you in locating a qualifying practicum site. It must meet UND’s approval. The practicum is 3 credits and is 90 hours with children. It can be taken in segments of 1 to 3 credits per semester.
Q. Do I need to have a teaching degree to pursue this degree?
A. No, however, it is helpful to have a degree that pertains to children, families or education. Students enter the program with a variety of degrees including: education, special education, social work, children & families, elementary education and others. If you are planning to teach with this degree, it will be important for you to know your state’s requirements for teacher licensing.
Q. Would I be required to complete a research project to graduate?
A.: Students can either complete an independent study, which is a scholarly piece of work that may be original research, or a scholarly project which is a critical analysis and application of information and experiences gained throughout the program of study. Most students choose to complete an independent study.
Q. Is there an entrance exam?
A. No.
Q. Are there additional course fees?
A. Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice. Additional program and/or online course fees may apply.

Q. Do my references have to submit their letters electronically?
A. Although this works the best, you can arrange for them to mail their letters of recommendation directly to the graduate school.
