Dr. Glenn Olsen received his B.A. degree from Macalester College, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oregon. He received an M.S. in Child Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Children and Families.  He has taught at community colleges, technical colleges and 4-year institutions. He has been at the University of North Dakota since 1991.

Dr. Olsen teaches graduate and undergraduate classes primarily in early childhood education. He has taught the following undergraduate courses: Introduction to Early Childhood Education; Home, School & Community; Social/Emotional Development and Guidance with Children; Organization & Leadership and Multicultural Education. At the graduate level his has taught: Curriculum Foundations in ECE; Play and Development in Children; and Higher Education Curriculum.

Dr. Olsen has co-authored or edited two books. The first is Home School Relations (with Mary Lou Fuller) and the second is Teasing & Harassment (with John Hoover). In addition, he has written over 25 articles and has presented at over 30 state, regional and national conferences. His areas of writing and presenting include: teasing & bullying;  school violence; home school relations, cooperative games with children ages 3-8; male teachers in preschool and the primary grades, and collaborative learning.

Dr. Olsen has been involved with several state and national associations. He is the past president of the North Dakota Early Childhood Education Association (NDAEYC), is currently the co-chair of the North Dakota Higher Education Early Childhood Consortium, and is an officer, Secretary, of the National Association for Early Childhood Teacher Educators (NAECTE).
