Which software products are available and how much do they cost?
UND ITSS offers a limited selection of Microsoft products for students to purchase. Currently, these include:
Microsoft Office 2003 Professional - $70.00
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Upgrade - $70.00
Who can buy it?
All UND students who are enrolled in part-time or full-time degree-granting progrmas at UND are eligible to purchase these software licenses. When you come in to buy your software license, you must show your student ID card. If you are under the age of 18, you will need to have a parent or guardian present.
Where do I get it?
All software is available from the Telecommunications Office in the lower level of Carnegie Hall.
How many copies of the software can I buy?
You can purchase one copy of each product licensed from UND. This means you can purchase Office 2003 Professional for Windows and Windows XP Pro Upgrade, but not two licenses of Office 2003 Professional. This also means that if you purchase Office 2003 Professional today, you can purchase a license of the next Office Professional when it is released.
Do I get to keep this software when I graduate?
Absolutely. The software license is permenantly assigned to you. You still need to follow the guidelines specified in the end-user license agreement.
If I buy a license, can I share it with my friends?
One license means it can only be used on one computer. You are not allowed to share, trade, or sell CDs. Each CD is tied to one license. You must register your license after installing the software or the program will not function.
What does "upgrade" mean? Why can't I buy the full version?
This means you must have a qualifying license of the previous version to use the upgrade. Our agreement with Microsoft only allows us to license upgrade versions of Windows, not the full version. Make sure your computer meet's the Windows XP Professional system requirements and that you have a qualifying operating system, such as:
- Windows 2000
- Windows NT Workstation 4.0 or 3.5.1
- Windows 98/Windows 95/Windows ME/ Windows XP Home Edition
