A Certified Public Accountant, Vice President Gallager earned a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting in 1968 from Charleston Southern University, and earned his M.B.A. from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville in 1972. He was appointed University of North Dakota’s Vice President for Finance and Operations, effective July 1, 2000.
From August of 1994 to June of 2000, Vice President Gallager served as Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer of the Medical University of South Carolina at Charleston, South Carolina. In his role as Vice President, he was a financial advisor to the president and the Board of Trustees. Vice President Gallager was also a professor in the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Prior to joining the Medical University of South Carolina, Mr. Gallager served ultimately as chair of the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. He participated as a gubernatorial and then as a legislative appointment on the commission.
From 1973 to 1994, Mr. Gallager was a stockholder with McKnight, Frampton and Co., C.P.A., P.A., in Charleston, South Carolina. He started with the firm as a professional staff member in 1968. From 1972 to 1977, he taught accounting for various semesters in the Charleston Southern University and College of Charleston Evening Programs.
Mr. Gallager served in the United States Marine Corps.
Vice President Gallager is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Higher Education, North Dakota Association of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the Naional Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges Business Affairs Council Executive Committee.. He also is involved with many community and University of North Dakota committees.
