Women Studies (WS) is an interdisciplinary program that gives students the opportunity to learn more about women's lives.  In Women Studies courses, women are the subject rather than the object of inquiry.  Using gender as a category of analysis, courses examine women's experiences and systems that affect women's lives, and how women in turn have shaped these institutions to their own and society's needs.  These understandings are as important for men as for women.  Women Studies has been offered as a minor at the University of North Dakota (UND) since 1984 and as a major in Women Studies through the Interdisciplinary Studies Program since 1998.  Graduate students may do a cognate in Women Studies.  For more information on any of these options please view the information provided in the links to the left, contact the Women Studies Office at 701-777-4115, visit us on the UND campus in O'Kelly Hall room 133A, or send an e-mail to wendelin.hume@und.edu
