Regular faculty members (tenured and tenure track) at the University of North Dakota may become affiliated with the Women Studies Program through appropriate activity in an any of these areas of their obligation to the University and the profession:
1. Teaching courses with significant content relating to women's lives, women's issues, women's perspectives, and systems or structures that affect women.
2. Undertaking research relating to women in the above ways.
3. Engaging in service activities relating to women in the above ways.
Such individuals should request that the Director of the program forward their name (upon approval of the Women Studies Executive Committee) to the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Office of the President. "Women Studies Affiliate" may then be added to their contract.
Affiliation with the Women Studies Program of the University of North Dakota is also open to members of the university community, that is, faculty and staff alike. Affiliation that involves teaching is subject to Board policies set out in the Faculty Handbook regarding Courtesy appointments. Interested individuals should take one of the following steps to be considered:
1. Submit an appropriate resume to the Director of the Program as an application for membership.
2. Submit a course outline, research proposal, or service agenda which would be carried out as a part of their affiliation as evidence of their contribution to the Program.
3. Submit a statement of no more than two pages indicating their relevant teaching, research, and/or service interests and activities.
These materials will be screened by the Director and presented with a recommendation to the Executive Committee for their approval.
All affiliates of the Women Studies Program should be prepared to:
1. Interact with other Women Studies Faculty in the discussion of issues relating to women and gendering.
2. Serve on Women Studies committees.
3. Draw upon her/his expertise to develop and conduct Women Studies courses, research, or service.
4. Be actively involved in gender-related research.
