A coating of slimy mud covered the floor and the walls up through the first row of sheetrock panels across the stage. The water had been about seven to eight feet deep from at the front of the auditorium, nearly four feet over the stage. The wooden cover sections for the orchestra pit had floated out of position. The newly-installed electrical panel in the basement was destroyed. Close to $200,000 in repairs were needed.

The theatre's interior appearence in May and June was discouraging after so much had been done.

The new stage was a muddy mess.

Executive Director Kay Kjelland discusses the damage with St. Paul Pioneer Press reporter Chuck Haga. They are standing in the annex, looking through the new archway into the original theatre lobby.
