My primary research concern is literacy in rural communities; my research interests include literacy studies, composition studies, and English education.

Teaching
I teach graduate courses in composition pedagogy, composition theory, and literacy studies, and undergraduate courses in composition, composition pedagogy, literature, and folklore.

I direct the Red River Valley Writing Project, a site of the National Writing Project, which works to improve writing instruction at all grade levels, in all subject areas. |
