Take a look at
The Environment of the Week
3/23/98
Pictured here is Dr. Frank Karner, the creator of Earthscape. This area
is his home region of the Red River Valley. One can see that he is looking
over the region from an Esker. An esker is a meltwater deposit of sand and
gravel the accumulated underneath a glacier. It is widely known that North
Dakota was covered by glacial ice before the formation of glacial Lake Agassiz.
Esker s are seen extensively in North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, and
Canada.
