Continuing on with a mountain theme, this is a picture of the leeward side of a mountain. You can see the beautiful mountain range found high in the altitude or height in the background. Because of this height, two sides are formed, a leeward and a windward side.

A leeward side gets little water or precipitation as shown here. The altitude of the mountain range cause clouds to rise above them. When the clouds get that high, the moisture becomes too difficult to hold and is dropped in the form of rain or snow. This is the windward side where all of the precipitation is.
