| General Comments: | This is a delightful compilation of some of Copland's best works. Included in this piece is Fanfare for a Common Man, Saturday Night Waltz, El Salon Mexico, Appalachian Spring, Buckaroo Holiday and Hoe Down. Some difficulties of the piece are: The duration of 8 minutes, tempo and style changes, and implementing elements of musicality (marcato, pesante). A beautiful clarinet solo begins Appalachian Spring, an excellent opportunity to show a good clarinet player. The work is a crowd-pleaser. | |

| General Comments: | If you like Copland you will like this piece. This is a medley of many of Coplands familiar melodies. Good scoring make it more authentic than many transcriptions from orchestral music. Like any medley, this piece has many transitions and key changes which can lead to ensemble problems. |
