Review:
This 1969 recording of the university group represents the pieces well. There is vivacious playing throughout the entire album. Rhythmic and technical accuracy are there. Intonation in the high woodwinds and soaring horn parts is not perfect. There are also some phasing problems with the recording. Sections either can't hear each other due to seating arrangements or the placement of microphones was wrong. The brass really come through quite well and are generally in tune with each other through the dynamic fluctuations. The trumpets do an especially brilliant job on the march.
