This recording of Alfred Reed's Russian Christmas music was pretty good. The performance wasa outstanding for a High-school band, it was even pretty good for a college band. The balance, blend, and phrasing were all generally good. There were a few pitch problems in the upper woodwinds, primarily the oboe, but that tends to be a concern among most high school groups. The quality of the recording left a little to be desired though. It was a live recording with some background noise(coughing, crying child). There was some crackling and static on the recording. The overall recording and performance was quite accurate and convincing, especially for a high school group.
