Stuff to take to Belize

--You don't need lots of stuff! If in any doubt, leave it behind.
--You must have a passport.
And a good attitude. Thats about all that you really must have!
--To get through airports and borders: You should not have
anything that could be considered a weapon by anyone under any
circumstances. NOTHING SHARP. No nail clippers, no rock hammers,
no pocket knife. And, no uzis. And, no white powders or fertilizer.
--For luggage, I suggest a duffel bag and a day pack. Please,
no hard-sided suitcases - they are a real pain to haul around.
Find a good duffel and all your stuff will fit in. The day pack
will be used for carry-on stuff on the airplane, and also as we
travel around and do things.
--Forget about hair dryers and other electric gizmos. Sad to
say, but you are just going to have to do without. And you probably
can't plug them in.
--Forget about warm clothing (except for the trip to Minneapolis;
bring a warm jacket for that and plan to leave it in the van)
because temperatures will be 70-85°F. So, we will be
in shorts and T-shirts most of the time. (I recommend only bringing
one pair of long pants = the ones you travel to Minneapolis in.)
--There are bugs in the jungle, bring some bug juice.
--You can bring rain gear or just get wet if it rains. March
is still part of the dry season so we may not get any rain at
all. And if it does rain it will stop soon and it is very warm.
--It is a pain to haul extra stuff, but if you can't snorkel
without your own gear, bring mask, snorkel and fins. If you do
not have that stuff don't worry -- it will be provided, if needed.
--"Good" clothes are not needed. Not at all. People
will mock you if you wear them.
--Food will be provided by the Monkey Bay folks. They even serve vegetarians. If you need supplemental food, we will stop at some small markets, so you don't need to bring any. FYI - the water is drinkable everywhere, but if you are worried we can get bottled water.
