Alpha Chi Omega’s altruism supports battered women and children organizations around the country. Locally, the Alpha Pi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega supports the Community Violence Intervention Center (CVIC) in Grand Forks, ND.The vision of CVIC is to build a violence-free community by working together to promote human dignity, justice, and peace. They offer a holistic approach to violence that provides a long-term safety net for those impacted by violence and proactive prevention efforts through education, treatment, and collaborative work for peace involving the entire community.
Alpha Chi helps to support CVIC by holding one big event per semester. During fall semester the women host a golf scramble tournament at the UND Ray Richards golf course. Other Greek houses, campus organizations, and members from the community participate to help raise money and show support for CVIC.
In the spring semester, Alpha Chi puts on an Alpha Male pageant where the fraternities nominate a member from their house to run. The fraternity houses participate during the week by collecting supplies for CVIC and raising money. At the end of the week we have a pageant and crown our new Alpha Male, while the top three houses get to have a dance with us.
