| SAS Network |
- Designed after the American Psychological Association of Graduate Students' Advocacy Coordinating team, the SAS Program Representative Network consists of (a) a Network Coordinator who is a member of the SAS Executive Committee, (b) six regional representatives, and (c) a program representative from each graduate program in counseling psychology.
- The purpose of the SAS Program Representative Network is to (a) provide students in counseling psychology programs with important information such as updates to the SAS website and member benefits, internship, research and career resources, and postdoctoral, academic and practice position openings, (b) foster greater connections between the various graduate programs in counseling psychology, (c) develop a network for the dissemination of information pertinent to counseling psychology students, (d) provide a mechanism for two-way communication between counseling psychology students and the SAS Executive Committee, and (e) a provide a method for grass roots advocacy within in the Society of Counseling Psychology, the American Psychological Association and the greater community in which counseling psychology students train and practice.
- Communication is a key to the success of any representative network such as this one and must be two way for the network to succeed. Thus, it is extremely important for program representatives to communicate with their regional representatives and for regional representatives to communicate with the Network Coordinator. Communication can take the form of regular phone calls, e-mail conversations, or a chat at a meeting you are both attending. It is not expected you communicate daily; however, it will be important to keep all involved in the loop about your activites or to seek advice on an issue.
