Greetings! My name is Jaryn Allen and I am the SAS Representative to APAGS. I am also the Student Representative on the Division 17 Membership Committee. I am a transplant from Indiana, where I graduated from Ball State University, with majors in Psychological Science and Sociology, and minors in Women's Studies and Interpersonal Relations (Counseling). I earned my MS in Clinical Psychology from North Dakota State University, and am currently in my second year of the doctoral program in Counseling Psychology at UND. My primary research and clinical interests are in body image, eating disturbances/disorders, and human sexuality. I am looking forward to the next three years of SAS involvement and my role in facilitating counseling graduate students; professional development, implementing meaningful programming that promotes social justice, establishing mentoring relationships with other helping professionals, and the many other exciting opportunities SAS will bring during our host term. I am also very happy to working with such a dedicated, passionate, and genuine group of fantastic folks!
Outside of my academic life, I enjoy nature, wildlife, and the outdoors (kayaking, fishing, canoeing, camping); practicing TaeKwonDo and working toward my 2nd Degree Black Belt; art, music, and literature; movies and board games; and spending time with my beloved partner and our fur-legged babies, Chopper, our Black Lab, and Pandora, our Black Pug.
