NSAS meeting April 16, 2007 President Matt called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. He then passed around the membership directory for any updates. Minutes were read and approved. Beth reported on the DSS Honor Bar is working out profitably. Treasurer report that $27 worth of solar glasses had been sold to the 4H group. NDSP meeting committee reported they met last Friday, April 13, at Jen's home and have about 2 months until the Star Party. Milly said he has received no word on the speakers as of yet. The design for the T-shirt has been finalized. Dean reported Super Science Saturday drew approximately 1000 people and was very successful for the NSAS booth. At the 4H Youth Activity at NDSU, Milly made a impact crater model. Dean and Jen demonstrated and explained the workings of telescopes and talked about Black Holes. Beth and Will had a program on "Weight & Age on other Bodies" (We hazard a guess it was to do with astronomical bodies?) Milly demoed a website on Comet Lovejoy. Upcoming Events: Astronomy Day, April 20th, will hopefully see clear skies and a good turnout at Hobby Town. Setup is scheduled for 8:30pm. Our next meeting was scheduled for the 2nd Monday in May, the 7th. Terry asked for a volunteer to succeed him as representative to AAl from NSAS, and Ray answered the call. MIlly reported on The Spitzer Telescope (IR). He explained how photos of IR images are combined with visible images. The combined photos yield much more information about the true makeup of galaxies and nebulae. Very interesting report. Beth mentioned that for more information about the North Central Region Astronomical League Convention visit the www.FMAstronomy.com site. It will be May 18-19. Meeting adjourned. Gary Robertson, Secretary NSAS
