Astronomy meeting Feb 14, 2005 Treasury report by Dean Smith account unchanged Secretary report unfinished Paul Hardersen was our first speaker Discussed -Observatory access -Use of equipment last semester -Addition of equipment and liability -Need new location for observing for our club -Wants better relations with our club Wanted to present new policy for safety but had not attained all info yet Decided faculty member or club officer must be present for observing at observatory NSAS cannot do fund raising at observatory for our club Could get key for observatory Other news Space studies trying to fix ACIT Getting more amenities for observatory for star parties Astronomy camp runs in July from 6pm to 1am Trying to form group in ND for light pollution issues Discussion of possibly of our club getting the 18" telescope after new one is installed Would like to maintain collaboration between both clubs Safety issues will be resolved later NDSP update designed brochures for event and extended window of time for t-shirt designs till March meeting. Made motion to reimburse Fargo club for $100 donation and give them a 10$ reduction in price this year. Discussed Turtle river and city park star parties. Just need to set dates and choose parks. Astronomy day: Dean talked to hobby town USA about observing in front of their store. Close to post office and less of a parking hassle. Messier Marathon March 4th and 5th. Fargo club on 5th. Astronomy viewing: Dean showed us a big sunspot, Matt showed us picture of Orion over snow bank on Feb 11th. Vishnu found binary asteroid; 26th ever found. Milly doing archive and wants any old stuff we have. Discussed idea for 2 meetings a month one for business and one for observing.
