Dean opened the meeting up at about 7:20PM. The meeting was held at the Dakota Science Science Center.
Dean talked about the International Space Station (ISS) rendevous with the space shuttle. They will be docked for several days, and should provide spectacular passes for the next several days. When the two undock, they will fly in tandem for several passes and should also provide a good show.

Dean discussed his experience with observing the Moon occultation of Venus, and the possibility of seeing the Jupiter occultation on the 17th of August.
The Dakota Astronomical Society (DAS) will host the Badlands Star Party August 17-19. The club will be leaving about 9 or 10AM on Friday from Clifford Hall. Most club members will be leaving to come back On Sunday, however some are discussing going to the South Unit on Monday.
Dean suggests to bring water if you are planning on making the trip to the badlands.
The South middle school will have a star party on September 27th. This will be discussed in detail during the next meeting.
The Dakota Science Center is having a nature hike on October 1st. The would like the club to hold a star party to coincide with the event. We will discuss this further at the next meeting.
