Dr. Allan Treiman LPI Dr., Allan Treiman, comes to us from the Lunar and Planetary Institute in Texas. Dr. Treiman is a Senior Staff Scientist there where his speciality is studying the geology of Mars and Martian Meteorites. Dr. Treiman is also very active in education and public outreach where he instructs groups of teachers on geology each year at LPI's summer teacher field workshop. Dr. Treiman will be one of this years keynote speakers.
Mr. Brian Kerns, lives in North Dakota and explores the universe each night searching for points of light in far away galaxies that appear suddenly. This hobby of searching hundreds of images for Supernovae events has awarded him 4 discoveries. Brian works with supernovae hunter, Tim Puckett on this project. In his day life he is a web developer, database manager and entrepreneur.
Dr. Tim Young from the University of North Dakota researches supernova events by modeling stars in a computer, and blowing them up. He studied two unique supernova events one displayed a very weak explosion, while the other showed that the event had been a colossal explosion, one never seen before. The latter became known as a HyperNova and recent news since last year is that these HyperNova are associated with Gamma Ray Bursts.
