	Phi Beta Kappa, founded in 1776, is the oldest academic honor society in America. It is also widely recognized as the most distinguished academic honor society for the liberal arts and sciences. In 1914, a chapter was established at the University of North Dakota. It was the first and remains the only chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in North Dakota.
