The Phi Beta Kappa 2009 Spring Banquet
The spring banquet and initiation ceremony will be held on Monday, April 27, following an address by the Visiting Scholar at 4pm. Our 2009 Visiting Scholar is Professor Loch Johnson, the Regents Professor of Public and International Affairs at the University of Georgia, Senior Editor of the journal Intelligence and National Security, author of over 150 articles and numerous books on U.S. national security (among them Seven Sins of American Foreign Policy, Handbook of Intelligence Studies, and Strategic Intelligence 5 vols.). His primary research and teaching interests are intelligence and security studies, American foreign policy, and executive-legislative relations in the United States. He has served as the first staff for intelligence oversight on the U.S. House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as well as special assistant to the chair of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and to the chair of the Aspin-Brown Presidential Commission on intelligence.  Professor Johnson has been a Visiting Professor at Yale and a Visiting Fellow at Oxford, and was awarded the V.O. Key Prize from the Southern Political Science Association for Runoff Elections in the United States. In addition, he has served as secretary of the American Political Science Association and as president of the International Studies Association, South.
