Reading is Where It's Hat

In honor of Dr Seuss' birthday on March 2nd, NEA celebrates Read Across America on that day.  SNDEA members at UND joined the national celebration with two of their own events spread out over 3 days.

Read Aloud

A total of 9 SNDEA members volunteered to read to students at a Neighborhood Networks Learning Center after-school program on the Tuesday and Thursday around Dr. Seuss' birthday.  SNDEA provided many books for the students to choose to read.  The kids then listened to members read or read the book to one of our volunteers.  At the end of the event, each student was able to choose books to add to their library at home.

"NEA student members know reading is where it's hat."

Dr. Seuss Birthday Party

On March 2nd, over 30 SNDEA members and education profession celebrated what would be Dr. Seuss' 101st birthday.  Dr. Hanley volunteered to share information about Dr. Seuss' life and his many books with the group.  We also watched a video of The Lorax while eating some Dr. Seuss birthday cake.

"The dream begins, most of the time, with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you on to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called truth."
