Prefers medium to moist soil with good drainage

Also thrives in sandy soils with reasonable moisture

Does best in full sunlight, but will tolerate some shade

Freely self seeds in optimum growing conditions

Blooms from May to June

Drops round capsules filled with tiny black seeds when done blooming

Often mistaken for a grass when not in bloom
