Description
"Campanula" is taken from the Latin term "campana" meaning "little bell" in reference to the flower

shape.  "Rotundifolia" means round-leaved.  The violet-blue, bell shaped flowers of the Harebell hang down

from slender stems of 4-18 inches  tall.  From 1 to 5 bluish purple flowers about one-half inch long are

clustered at the tip of one to several stems that arise from scaly perennial rootstocks.  The long-stalked

basal leaves are almost round, with toothed edges and heart-shaped bases.  Fruits are capsules that open by

basal pores to release shiny, brownish seeds.
