*The chokecherry shrub likes rich soils,

*It prefers locations like thickets, fence rows, roadsides, borders of woods 


*Other preferences include sandy and rocky soil on hillsides and ravine banks


*In full or partial shade, but the plants grown in the shade usually don't produce fruit

*Valuable habitat and food for many wildlife species
