What Yarrow Looks Like

Height: 1-1 1/2 ft.
Description:
Mostly unbranched, hairy plants with finely divided leaves that appear featherly
and fernlike. The leaves measure around 6" long and 1" wide. The
flower heads are flat, and branch in clusters at the top of the stem.
Each delicate flower head is less than 1/2" wide, and contains 5 white petal-like
ray flowers surrounding a central yellow circle which contains 10-20 small,
tubular, yellowish disk flowers.
Yarrow is most
commonly found in bloom during the months of June and September, and favors
sunny to partially sunny conditions.
Some fellow companions
of yarrow are: Big bluestem, Little bluestem, Indian grass, Black-eyed
Susan, Purple prairie clover, and Azure aster.
