Brandi Pelham loves to help people achieve their dreams and goals. As the UND Bismarck Center coordinator, she matches UND-taught courses with Bismarck-Mandan student needs.
"I help people with education -- something I believe in," she says.
For example, when a number of Bismarck-Mandan residents were seeking real-estate licenses she worked with UND's continuing education division to deliver those courses there. From certificate programs to doctoral courses, Pelham works to provide UND classes in Bismarck, either by having a professor travel there or through interactive video classes.
Pelham enjoys being part of the Bismarck-Mandan community, attending Chamber mixers, networking, and just meeting people. After learning what types of classes residents are interested in, she works to bring that class to Bismarck. She especially enjoys working with prospective and current students.
She knows a lot about distance learning -- she's also a student in UND's educational leadership doctoral program, and hopes to earn her Ph.D. in December 2008. "It's been a good experience," she says of her coursework. "I learn a lot from my classmates and instructors." She says that she enjoys the teaching style in her discipline, in which courses are delivered at UND just one weekend a month, especially the discussion forums.
Pelham earned her undergraduate degree in business systems from Taylor University in Indiana, and her master's degree in public administration from UND. |
