HLC Reaffirmation
UND has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1913.
Not only does it demonstrate the quality of the education students receive at UND, but it allows our students to receive federal student aid and ensures academic credits are transferable between UND and other accredited institutions.
Comprehensive Evaluation for Reaffirmation
UND is part of the Open Pathway 10-year Cycle. We are currently preparing for a Comprehensive Evaluation for Reaffirmation for the 2023-24 academic year. This process covers all HLC criteria and includes an on-site visit by HLC reviewers.

What is the HLC?
HLC is an institutional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as having the authority to accredit degree-granting colleges and universities. Institutional accreditation validates the quality of an institution's academic programs at all degree levels, whether delivered on-site, online or otherwise.
HLC maintains an active relationship with its member institutions, with frequent communication and regular reviews to ensure quality higher education. Institutions that are accredited by HLC are required to go through periodic reviews to ensure that they are meeting accreditation guidelines and standards. UND's most recent HLC review was finalized in 2018.
