Departments across campus offer a variety of informational presentations, trainings, workshops, and dynamic learning activities. Providers include Wellness & Health Promotion, University Counseling Center, CVIC at UND, Civil Rights & Title IX, and Student Health Services
Residential Experience
As part of the on-campus living experience, residents will gain knowledge of one’s personal identity, build skills to succeed academically, while engaging with others on campus and the larger community in a positive way.
The Residential Experience is based on the SOAR Model of Self, Others, Academics, and Responsibility to Community. Presentations have been identified to align with the Residential Experience.

This presentation/activity engages students through an escape room format that promotes substance misuse awareness and sexual assault prevention. This activity promotes stepping up and acting as an Active Bystander by developing confidence within different scenarios.

College is exciting and sometimes overwhelming. The years in college are meant to help develop skills in areas of study and everyday life. For example, learning how to do laundry properly, preparing nutritious meals, time management, critical thinking, etc. This presentation and activity covers it all and will provide answers to questions on how best to balance school and life to maintain wellness throughout college.

Billions of photos are posted to social media every day, but you don't always see the big picture, especially when it comes to unhealthy relationships. There is more to a relationship than what we see on social media. Students will understand the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships and the role that technology and social media can play.

This training focuses on developing confidence with becoming an Active Bystander in situations regarding substance use. Students will be able to identify potentially harmful behaviors and gain confidence in acting in those situations.

This training is geared towards students who will be attending educational opportunities in workplaces outside of UND's campus, such as clinicals or internships. It will address resources, protections, and support they have as UND students when engaged in a UND-sponsored educational activity – even if that activity occurs off of UND property. This training can be paired with the Bystander Intervention Training (or a shortened form of that training) to provide students will additional skills on how to respond to discriminatory conduct in the workplace.

This training is geared towards graduating students who are entering the workforce. It will address some of the legal protections they have against discrimination and harassment in most workplaces as well as provide resources on how to report workplace discrimination and harassment. This training can be paired with the Bystander Intervention Training (or a shortened form of that training) to provide upcoming graduates will additional skills responding to discriminatory conduct in the workplace.

Improve your knowledge and skills in suicide prevention and identification of risk. This training is designed for individuals to develop implement suicide prevention strategies.
Emotional First Aid Goal:
Educate students and increase understanding of risk factors and best practices for interventions related to mental health and suicide prevention.

The Escalation Workshop from the One Love Foundation includes a 38-minute film that follows a college relationship from its exciting beginning to its end. The film is followed by a 30-45 minute discussion. The film covers a variety of topics including dating abuse, bystander intervention, and more. The goal of the Escalation Workshop is to provide students with the tools to recognize warning signs, understand the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors, and to develop a larger conversation around the issue.

Green bandana is a mental health awareness and suicide prevention campaign, that uses bandanas to support peers in getting help. The green bandana project at the University of North Dakota will include a four hour training by licensed providers to students who at the completion will have the tools and resources to support students that are struggling with mental health issues.

Sexual assault is not an easy topic to talk about and unfortunately chances are we all known someone who has been impacted by sexual violence. What we can all do is have conversations about consent and speak up to help stop sexual violence before it even occurs.

This training will introduce new and current students to the Equal Opportunity & Title IX Office. It will address what services the office provides, summarize UND’s Discrimination and Harassment Policy and Sexual Misconduct Policies, explain how UND responds to reports of misconduct, identify on-campus resources, and provide information on how to request accommodations.

This session discusses how feeling trapped in a love labyrinth is a very real and frightening sign of relationship abuse. Students will recognize the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationships, as well as identify the signs and impact of emotional abuse.

College students lead very busy lives which can lead to feeling stressed out, overwhelmed, and anxious. Participants in this workshop will learn how stress and anxiety can impact the body both physiologically and psychologically. Additionally, participants will learn strategies and techniques to help better manage these feelings, which can lead to a more balanced school, work, and personal life.
